Forest E. Knight, 87, of Clarion, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at his home.

He will be cremated and a private family burial will be held at a later date.

Michael Lynn Mechem, 73, Clarion, died at home on Friday, October 29, 2021.  Mike was born March 12, 1948, in Clarion, Iowa, to Lynn and Inez (Hagen) Mechem.

Memorial services for Michael Mechem will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, 201 3rd Avenue North East in Clarion with Reverend Mike Gudka officiating. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Clarion.

Erma L. (Schroeder) Cullinan

Erma L. (Schroeder) Cullinan, 91, of Clarion, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehab Center.

A celebration of Erma’s life will be held April 30th from 1-4pm at the Dows Community Center.

Erma Leona Cullinan was born on February 14th, 1930 on a farm in Dows, Iowa to William and Amelia (Hipp) Schroeder. She was the fourth of seven children.

Alice M. Retleff, 81, of Rowan, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at her home in Rowan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at United Church of Rowan, 811 Pesch Street in Rowan, with Pastor Nancy Hofmeister officiating. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Rowan.

Larry J. TerHark, 82, of Clarion, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

Funeral services for Larry TerHark will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 12:00 PM at United Church of Christ Congregational, 121 Third Avenue in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the church in Clarion.

Lana Jean Eagen, 79, of Mason City, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S Georgia Ave. with the Rev. Carol Kress officiating. Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield, IA. For those wishing to order flowers for the service, the family requests flowers be purchased through Baker Floral as that was Lana and Terry’s favorite floral shop. Memorials may be directed to the Good Shepherd Health Center, 302 2nd St.

Marjorie J. Groom, 87, of Rowan, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at her home in Rowan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at United Church of Rowan, 811 Pesch Street in Rowan, with Pastor Nancy Hofmeister officiating. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Rowan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Betty Manning

Betty Lou (Lande) Manning, the daughter of Bentley and Anna (Malmanger) Lande, was born on January 11, 1930, in Ames, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth.

On May 3, 1952, Betty was united in marriage with Gerald “Jerry” Manning in Austin, MN. The couple made their home in Clarion, Hampton, Conrad and in 1958, they returned to Clarion to farm west of town. She was very devoted to her husband, Jerry, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2000. They spent many hours dancing together and playing cards with others.
