Shirley Helen Swieter passed away April 27, 2022, at the Hampton Rehabilitation Center in Hampton, IA. She was born June 20, 1935, in Coulter, Iowa to Richard and Gladys (Rodemeyer) Thielen.  Shirley attended Franklin Consolidated School and was united in marriage to Robert Swieter on March 9, 1952, in Latimer, Iowa.

Elner A. (Thomas) Pehl passed into eternity Thursday evening February 17, 2022 in Austin, Minnesota

Interment will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion, Iowa.

Gayle O. Sisson, 92, formerly of Goldfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial visitation for Gayle Sisson will be held from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.

Gayle was born on July 2, 1929 in Castana, Iowa to Doyle and Gladys Sisson. He graduated from Castana High School in 1948.

Gayle married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Troth, at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa on June 25, 1948. They were married 71 wonderful years.

On Saturday, January 22, 2022 Kathryn (Katy) Ellen Whyte Dunn passed
away at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa after a short illness.
 
Memorial Services for Katy Dunn will be held on Saturday, April 30,
2022 at 2:00 PM at Lake Lutheran Church, 3250 190 th Street, rural
Goldfield, Iowa with Pastor Ron Rasmussen officiating. Burial will
be at Glenwood Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on
Saturday.

Ronald Swanson, 82, of Galt passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ron Swanson will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 25, 2022 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue North East in Clarion, with Father Jerry Blake officiating. Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion.

Pamela Smith, 75, of Clarion passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022 at her home in Clarion.

Memorial visitation for Pam Smith will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.

Private family services will be held.

Carl Ashbury

E. Carl Ashbury, 64, of Dows, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at home.

A private family service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Dows. A scattering ceremony will be held in Bermuda at a later date per Carl’s request.

Carl, son of Ervin C. and Mary E (Taylor) Ashbury, was born on April 15, 1957 at the Air Force Base in Annapolis, Maryland. Since his father was in the Air Force, Carl lived in West Virginia, Ohio, Texas, and Germany as a young child before his family settled in Elkhart, Indiana. He graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1975.

Jack McClelland Jr.

Jack W McClelland Jr. passed away on October 25, 2021 after a long battle with COPD. Jack was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa on February 21, 1938 to Jack W McClelland Sr and Mildred (Agard) McClelland. He lived in Clarion, Iowa where he excelled in high school sports and found his love of football. He went on to graduate from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where he continued playing football and then earned his Masters Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Teaching and coaching, first in Iowa and then in Tennessee kept him close to his love of athletics.

Lynnda Purcel

Lynnda Purcell, 62, of Clarion passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames with her husband by her side.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Friends and family are invited to the First Lutheran Church, 420 1st Street NW in Clarion, for lunch and fellowship following the burial.
