Norma Jean Hill, 89, formerly of Dows, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021.

Private family services will be held. A recording will be posted on Norma’s obituary on the Ewing Funeral Home website following the funeral service.

A public celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Norma Jean Russell was born September 5, 1932 to M. Earl and Mary (Denby) Russell in Dows, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Dows, graduating from Dows High School with the Class of 1950.

Elma I. (Odland) Lynch, 97 of Clarion passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond.

Funeral services for Elma Lynch will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation for Elma Lynch will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Friday.

Marvin Stupka, 78, of Kanawha, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Funeral services for Marvin Stupka will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Holmes Baptist Church, 2137 Hancock Avenue in Holmes. Burial will be at Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the church beginning at 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service.

George Baker

George W. Baker, 87, of Clarion passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.

No services will be held at this time.

George Wilbur Baker, son of Wilbur and Mildred (Rossum) Baker, was born on October 11, 1933 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1951. He also served with the Iowa National Guard for six years.

He was united in marriage to DeeLorys (Brown) Stark on October 1, 1961. He then became the step-father to four boys, Russ, Don, Jeff and Tim Stark.

Ronald Paul

Ronald Dean Paul, 82, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021 following a sudden illness.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 30, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Lensing Oak Hill Funeral Home, 210 Holiday Road in Coralville. Rev. Rebecca Carver will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 3 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the Ronald D. Paul Memorial Fund c/o Green State Credit Union or to Boys Town www.boystown.org.

Helen Lucylle (Nevin) Triem, 96, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion, Iowa. Burial in Clermont, Iowa will be held at a later date.

Lucylle was born November 4, 1924 to Howard and Helen (Luke) Nevin in Escondido, CA. (The day she was born, Calvin Coolidge was elected our 30th President). Growing up on a fruit and vegetable ranch, she spent her early years working on the farm and participating in music and athletics at Escondido High School.

Bertha Miller

Bertha Katie Miller, 96, passed away on July 31, 2021 in Knoxville, Iowa. She was born in Mason City, Iowa on August 22, 1924 to Ahlrich and Bauke Djuren. She graduated from Rockwell High School in 1924, continuing to work at the Rockwell Post Office.

In the 1960’s Bertha and her sister Mitzie owned MiLady’s Dress Shop in Lake Mills, Iowa and then Mitz and Bert’s Café in Leland, Iowa.

In 1973 Bert married Brian Miller and together they ran the Big Oak in Forest City, IA and later the Hi-Hatt Lanes in Clarion, IA.

Allen Harson

Allen Ray Harson, 77, passed away Wednesday, July 28 following a lengthy illness. He was born July 18, 1944 in Urbana, Iowa to the late Maurice Ray Harson and Adella Helen Lindsay Harson. He proudly served his country in the US Army as a Tanker. He was a member of the Flathead Free Trappers in Montana, the NRA and was a trained gunsmith. He was also a member of the Iowa Moto Guzzi Association and the National Moto Guzzi Association. He was of the Southern Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Joel Ray Harson.

Larry Joseph Flanagan, 81 of Clive, formerly of Belmond, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond, with Father Jerry Blake officiating. Burial will be held at the Belmond Cemetery in Belmond.

In lieu of flowers, Larry’s family requests that memorials be made to St. Francis Xavier Church in Belmond or the Alzheimers Association Greater Iowa Chapter.
