Willis “Bill” Skipton

Willis “Bill” Skipton, formerly of Laurel, Iowa, and resident of the Urbandale Care Center since 2015, passed away at the age of 93 on Thursday, May 6, 2021. Bill was born October 28, 1927 to Henry and Mabel (Ryan) Skipton in Charles City, Iowa and was raised and educated in Clarion, Iowa.

Bill is survived by his very close friends, Alan and Irene Strickler and family of Urbandale; his step-son Jack Sharer of Marshalltown; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kelly Jo (Schultz) Ellis

Kelly Jo (Schultz) Ellis, 61, of Kanawha passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at her home in Kanawha.

A memorial visitation was held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.

v Kelly Jo (Schultz) was born October 12, 1959 to William “Bill” and Dorthy (Ditsworth) Schultz in Clarion, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Clarion, graduating from Clarion High School.

Kelly was loved by many, she was smart-witted, had a big heart and would do anything for anyone if she had the means.

Bruce Kreitlow

Bruce Lee Kreitlow, 71, of Clarion passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion. At the time of his passing his family was at his side.

Mass of Christian Burial for Bruce Kreitlow will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue Northeast in Clarion, with Father Jerry Blake officiating. Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

Jean M. (Drout) White

Jean M. (Drout) White, 98, of Dows passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond. She had received excellent care from their staff for four years.

Memorial services for Jean will be held at a later date.

Jean Marie, daughter of Richard and Mary (Bankert) Drout, was born on September 11, 1922 in Long Island, New York. We told her 9/11 was a good day long before it became a tragic day. Jean grew up in Pearl River, New York.

Virgil Rink

Virgil Edward Rink, 92 of Cedar Falls died March 25, 2021 at home with his family. He was born in Woolstock, IA, son of Bart and Audrey (Fischer) Rink. He graduated from Clarion High School and spent time serving our country in the U.S. Army. On February 7, 1954 he married Jane Tillman in Clarion, IA and they celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Virgil was a Supervisor at Northwestern Bell, retiring in 1985. He then went on to work at Hilpipre Auction Co. and also served as the past Commander of AmVets Post 49.

Allen Mechem, 94, long time Clarion resident, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021, at his winter home in Mesa, Arizona.

Following a private graveside service, please join the family as we honor and celebrate Allen’s life on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Red Shed Event Center in Clarion.

Allen Lewis Mechem was born in Clarion on December 16, 1926, to Lewis and Vernice (Allen) Mechem. He was the oldest of eight children.

Dorothy Burras

Dorothy “Dot” Burras, 87, of Mason City and formerly of Clarion and Boone, died Friday, March 5, 2021, while surrounded by family at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice in Mason City.

Private funeral services were held Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion with Rev. Grant Woodley officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Kenny Axon

Kenneth Wayne Axon, the son of Clifford & Luella (McCutcheon) Axon, was born on February 25, 1927, in Goldfield, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Goldfield High School in 1944. Kenny served in the United States Army during W.W. II, he was drafted into active duty in Leghorn, Italy until 1947. He transported Red Cross supplies & then transferred into the finance department where he exchanged foreign currency.

After serving his country, he co-owned the local DX Gas Station with Don Wald, in Goldfield, Iowa.

Marc Lunde

Marc L. Lunde, of Clarion, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at his home.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Marc Lee, son of Leland and Lois (Mathison) Lunde, was born on January 26, 1947 in Hampton. Marc grew up in Iowa and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School.
