A close first half gave way to a Clarion-Goldfield-Dows run in the second as the Cowboys beat rival Eagle Grove 36-12 in September 2019.
Trenton Jergenson carried the offense, running 30 times for 188 yards, a 6.3-yard average, and two touchdowns. Nevan Foss added 46 yards on eight carries, Christian Gaytan 44 on nine, Cole Lindaman 41 on four and Mateo Martinez 25 on four. Kain Nelson also scored on the ground.
Gaytan was 4 of 7 passing for 105 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Nelson completed one pass for 27 yards. Martinez was the main target, catching four passes for 125 yards and both touchdowns.
The Clarion-Eagle Grove game has been one of the longest-running rivalries in the county.
