Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics was named a 2019 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey, the company that measures patient experience for hospitals across the country.
The award goes to organizations that reach the 95th percentile or higher in patient experience scores and stay there for a full year. Iowa Specialty did that in two departments, Emergency and Inpatient.
Amy McDaniel, CEO of Iowa Specialty Hospital-Belmond, said the recognition from the industry’s leading measurement company reflected the work of the staff. Hospital staff attended the 2019 Press Ganey awards ceremony to accept it.
Patient experience scores are built from surveys patients fill out after a stay or visit. For a rural hospital, strong numbers help with recruiting doctors and with keeping patients from driving to larger cities for care.
