The Clarion City Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, was the last before newly elected members joined the council, and the business on the table was mostly the year-end kind.
Bob Powers presented changes to the city’s employee health insurance plan for the coming year. The council approved submitting the airport’s capital improvement plan, which is how small airports get in line for state and federal grant money. It also approved a resolution to pay tax increment financing debt and reviewed the fiscal 2021 Annual Financial Report and the Urban Renewal Annual Report, both required by the state.
On the money side, the council accepted an offer from First Bank Clarion to renew a city certificate of deposit for 12 months at 0.5 percent, a sign of how low interest rates were at the time.
The council also welcomed the members who would be sworn in for the new term in January.
