The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Board of Education used its regular meeting on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, to recognize Beth Jackson, who was leaving the board after 14 years.
Superintendent Joe Nelson told the board that finding someone willing to give a school district that much time is rare, and he praised the work she had done for the district.
Fourteen years on a school board covers a lot of ground: several superintendents’ contracts, budget cycles through lean state funding years, building projects and, in Jackson’s final stretch, the scramble of running schools during the pandemic. School board members in Iowa are unpaid.
Her seat was filled through the November 2021 election.
