The Clarion City Council kept its meeting short on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021, approving the second readings of ordinances dealing with property maintenance and inspections.
The meeting opened with a report from Peggy O’Neill of the Clarion Good Neighbor Association, which had just held a town clean-up the weekend before. O’Neill thanked the city and the businesses that helped, along with the C-G-D football team, which turned out to work on Saturday.
In Iowa, a city ordinance usually needs three readings at separate meetings unless the council votes to waive them. The property and inspection rules were part of a broader effort in Clarion to deal with run-down properties and nuisance complaints.
