Vince Papale, the former Philadelphia Eagle whose story became the 2006 Disney movie “Invincible,” spent a Friday in January 2022 speaking to groups around Clarion.
Papale’s story is well known to football fans. He was a 30-year-old substitute teacher and part-time bartender with no college football experience when he made the Eagles roster after an open tryout in 1976. He played three seasons, mostly on special teams. Mark Wahlberg played him in the film.
These days he works as a motivational speaker, and his message in Clarion was about dreaming big and refusing to let other people decide what you can do.
