Clarion-Goldfield-Dows opened its 2015 baseball season with a 7-1 win at Rockford, behind a strong start from Cody Kapka.
Kapka was in control from the mound, and the defense backed him up. The Cowboys scored once in the second, three times in the third and twice more in the seventh.
Head coach Jason Berning said it took the offense a little while to get going, but once it did the team got timely hits, manufactured runs and was aggressive on the bases.
Jarrod Littlejohn, Jacob Harvey and Eryn Ulven each went 2 for 3. Tanner Abbas added a hit.
