Cowboys fall in Conference Championship to Humboldt, beat West Hancock, Algona

VS. WEST HANCOCK The Eagles hosted the then 14-1 Cowboys last Monday night. Though the Cowboys defeated the Eagles, the match saw a hard-fought fight from the Eagles.

Opening the game powerfully, the Cowboys scored 12 points over West Hancock. The scoreboard was dominated by the Cowboys throughout the entire first half, as the Eagles only scored two points in the first, and then eight in the second. The Cowboys drained another 12 points over the Eagles as they slammed through the first half of the match with a score of 24-10.

CGD at Sectionals, Ethan Traub and Garett Seaba capture 1st Place

On Saturday, Feb. 5, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows participated in the IHSAA 2A Sectional 13. Two of the Cowboys captured first place. Here are the stats of the Cowboys who placed first:

GARRETT SEABA - 152

Semifinals - Seaba over Jordan Vankham (Webster City) (Dec 6-0) 1st Place Match - Seaba over Brandon Harris (Algona) (MD 13-5)

Cowgirls defeated by Lions and Cadets

VS. CLEAR LAKE
The Cowgirls hosted the Clear Lake Lions on Tuesday night. The first time these two rivals battled each other this season, the Lions hosted the Cowgirls and delivered the Cowgirls their first loss of the season. Tuesday night saw the visiting team triumphant over the Cowgirls hosting the Lions.

Cowboys claim close wins over Clear Lake and Iowa Falls-Alden

VS. CLEAR LAKE Perhaps Tuesday night proved the reason why Clear Lake calls themselves the Lions. The game definitely exceeded expectations Tuesday night, as from the first tip-off to the final whistle, the Lions and Cowboys endured an extremely tight race for first. It was the Cowboys who claimed victory over the Lions…again.

“At the start of the season, it was tough because there weren’t a lot of girls that I could wrestle, so I was always losing,” Abby Dorn explained, though she turned that into a positive note as she said, “Losing to the guys I think made me stronger mentally.”
