Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Middle School’s student Peer Helpers hosted their annual Bridging the Gap night in April 2019, an evening meant to connect older residents with the town’s kids.
The night started with a pork sandwich supper, made possible by donations from the Clarion Ruritans. After that came bingo, crafts, games and music, with prizes donated by dozens of local businesses. One of the busier tables was cookie decorating, led by Kylee Lamb, where guests frosted Easter and spring cookies. A dance performance closed the evening.
The Peer Helpers run the event themselves and talk about it as one of their favorite nights of the year. For the students, it is a chance to sit down with someone two or three generations older. For the seniors, it is a night out with neighbors’ kids and grandkids.
