In the month that celebrated Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, it is nice to know that the citizens of Clarion have a few more people to appreciate as the local police department gets back up to being fully staffed. Recently officers Mike Knapp and Austin Biggs started with the department, and both are enjoying the job so far.

Both officers were hired in the middle of 2020 and then spent a few months at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy before returning to Clarion last fall. They have now completed their Field Training and will be able to settle into a normal routine.

Our State’s motto is “Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain.” In order for us to live up to that motto we must ALL be more deeply involved in our democratic republic. As for myself, I have chosen to pursue the Republican nomination for House Seat 56, encompassing Hancock and Humboldt Counties along with a large portion of Wright County.

               On evenings and weekends, Linda Rosenbaum of Clarion can often be found cuddled under a blanket. Interestingly, this is not because she’s relaxing with a good book or her favorite show curled up on the couch. Instead, she is hard at work with multiple skeins of yarn crocheting some rather complex blankets.

               Rosenbaum, who grew up in the Nashua area, said her mother taught her to crochet when she was young. “I would get excited when I was finally able to crochet a chain and then even more excited when it was finally straight,” she stated.
