The Clarion Police Department is the recipient of four new automatic external defibrillators (AEDs). The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust awarded the Iowa Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Emergency and Trauma Services (BETS) a $10.1 million grant to provide law enforcement officials and first responders throughout Iowa with over 4000 AEDs which can help improve survival from cardiac arrest. Replenishment of supplies (AED pads and batteries) is also included in the program. Unique features on the machines include Wi-Fi and cellular capabilities.
