Ask a seventh grader in Clarion who the most famous person in the world is, and there’s a good chance the answer is MrBeast.
Jimmy Donaldson, from Greenville, North Carolina, started posting on YouTube as a teenager. His big break was a video of himself counting to 100,000. He built the most-subscribed channel on YouTube with stunts like giving away houses and recreating Squid Game with real prize money.
His business has grown well past videos. Feastables chocolate bars are sold at Walmart and in gas stations around Iowa. He launched MrBeast Burger and starred in “Beast Games” on Amazon Prime Video.
Critics question whether the giveaways are generosity or content, and some contestants have complained about conditions on his sets. His fans don’t seem to care.
