Members of the Clarion Chamber voted in late February 2022 to take the final steps toward merging with Clarion Economic Development.
The two groups were combining into a single organization, the Clarion Development Alliance, or CDA. Chamber members passed two resolutions. The first adopted the agreement to combine the entities, the plan for moving assets and liabilities to the combined group, and the articles of merger. The second dissolved the Clarion Chamber and Development as a separate body.
Small towns across Iowa have been folding chambers and economic development groups together in recent years. One board and one staff can stretch limited dues and city money further, and businesses deal with a single office for events, recruiting and promotion.
