Cowgirls score huge win at Iowa Falls-Alden

The Cowgirl basketball team Iowa Falls-Alden last Tuesday and were all over the Cadets from the opening tip. Jumping out to a 13-6 lead after the first eight minutes then extending it to a 21-9 halftime score, the ladies never looked back from there in a 44-14 win.

Cowboy basketball struggles through week

The Cowboys took a tough 91-58 loss at Iowa Falls-Alden last Tuesday. Coady Olson netted 19 points to lead the team, followed by Mateo Martinez with 12 and Connor State with 10 counters. Jaxon Carpenter finished with six points, Christian Gaytan four points, Tyson Berning three points and both Aiden Harrington and Kaden Bricker two points apiece.

Olson and State grabbed six rebounds each, Carpenter had four assists and Martinez and Harrington two steals each.

Cowboy wrestlers win two more duals

Last Tuesday in Belmond, the Cowboy wrestling team easily defeated both Belmond-Klemme 81-0 and Eagle Grove 54-19. Versus the Broncos, falls were recorded by all but five wrestlers. Rigo Bobadilla (106) scored his in :51, Ethan Traub (120) in 3:04 and Cale Kirstein (132) in 2:20. Remi Hanson (138) scored his fall in 1:09, Reed Abbas in 2:25, Garrett Seaba (152) in 2:41 and Bryce Allen in :36.

Camden Hanson (195) scored his fall in 1:23 and Kain Nelson in 12 seconds. Tyler Stein (126) took a 5-1 decision, while four others won by forfeit.

Three in double digits as Cowgirls basketball defeats Eagles

The Cowgirl basketball team was clicking on all cylinders last Monday in a 60-39 home win over Eagle Grove. They took a 14-7 lead after a quarter of play and never looked back from there in going out to a 39-21 advantage at the break.

Cowboys take two of three in dual meets

Last Thursday at Gilbert, the Cowboy wrestling team lost to the home team 46-27. However, they also came home with easy wins over North Polk 53-19 and Saydel 75-6.

Versus the Tigers, Rigo Bobadilla (106) won by forfeit with Kaeden Langfitt (113) losing by technical fall 16-1. The Cowboys maintained the team lead at 12-5 as Ethan Traub (120) disposed of his man in a quick 56-second pin. However, Gilbert took the next two matches to pull ahead 17-12. Reed Abbas (138) would turn it around with a pin in 1:05 over Shedarowich.

Cowboy basketball hits rough stretch of games

The Cowboy basketball team had been doing fairly well so far this year, until the schedule got a bit more difficult and started testing them as the calendar entered mid-January.

Last Monday saw a 63-45 loss at Pocahontas. The Indians held a 32-28 lead at halftime as the visiting Cowboys tried to stay with them. However, after being outscored by nine points through the third period it just wasn’t meant to be.

Cowboys drop dual to Algona on a tiebreaker
