Cowgirls compete well at conference meet

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows tried to make the most of their opportunities at last Thursday’s NCC track & field meet hosted by Humboldt. In the end, some great results emerged to make for a good day overall.

The home Wildcats took the team trophy with 160 points, followed by: Iowa Falls-Alden 120, Algona 116, C-G-D 114, St. Edmond 84, Webster City 78, Hampton-Dumont/CAL 28 and Clear Lake 17.

Cowboy track & field take part in NCC meet

The Cowboy track & field team traveled to Hampton last Thursday for the NCC meet. Clear Lake took the team title with 191 points, followed by: Webster City 126.50, Humboldt 126, Hampton-Dumont/CAL 69.50, Iowa Falls-Alden 62, Algona 62, St. Edmond 58 and the Cowboys 43.

Highlights included Nevan Foss grabbing second in the high jump at 5’ 10”, Christian Gaytan finishing fourth in 15.73 in the 110 hurdles then anchoring the shuttle hurdle relay with teammates Allen, Foss and Gardner to fourth in 1:09.22.

Cowboys defeat Algona, Central Springs on the links

The Cowboy golf team took a tri-meet last Tuesday at Clarmond, defeating both Algona and Central Springs. The Cowboys finished with a 185 total, followed by the Bulldogs at 188 and the Panthers at 202. Jacob Moore was medalist with a 43, and Cale Kirstein the runner-up with 46. Other counters were Tyson Berning and Camden Hanson with identical 48 scores. Other cards were turned in by Elic Fjetland at 49 and Colin Kirstein at 52.

Cowgirl golfers pick up wins

Last Tuesday in Algona, the Cowgirl golf team defeated the Bulldogs 222-228. Karina Torres led the way with a 54, which was good enough to earn her runner-up medalist honors. Other counting scores were Emily Christianson at 55, Sawyer Morrical at 56 and Tessa Warnke at 57. Other varsity rounds were played by Nicole Waters (58) and Delia Swanson (59).

The JV also won 263-270. JV scores were: Sydney Friesleben with 62, Lauren Brooks with 63, Reagan Goodell with 69 and Olyvia Olson with 69.

Cowgirl track & field compete at L. Mills, S. Hamilton

Last Monday the Cowgirls traveled to Lake Mills for the Bulldog Relays. Saint Ansgar won the team title with 130 points, followed in the top five of 13 teams by the Cowgirls at 98, Osage at 91, Central Springs at 72 and West Hancock at 59.

Morgan Middleton kept her strong season rolling along with wins in both her throwing events, while Kendall Lienemann took the high jump with a 4’ 10” best effort. Matea Conlon won another 100 dash, this time in 12.67, while the 4x4 grouping of Conlon, Lienemann, M. Hasty and Kinnetz on anchor toured the track in 4:19.24 for a win.

Cowboy track & field go to three meets in past week

The weather finally cooperated for the Cowboys as they were able to get in three meets in the past week. It all started Tuesday in Garner as Central Springs took the title at the Cardinal Relays with 142 points. They were followed in the top five of 11 teams by Belmond-Klemme with 103, North Butler with 97, West Fork with 81 and North Union with 75 points. The Cowboys finished ninth with 39 points.

Cowboys have busy week on the links

Last Thursday saw the Cowboy golf team in a rescheduled meet at Jewell. They defeated both South Hamilton and Eagle Grove in the tri-meet, scoring a 178 with the Hawks at 186 and the Eagles at 217.

Cowgirl golfers fourth at home invite

Last Saturday saw the Cowgirl golf team host their invitational at Clarmond. Clear Lake took the team title with a 379 total, followed by Humboldt at 416, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura at 438, Cowgirls at 441, Algona at 457 and Lake Mills with 498.

The final 18-hole scores for the Cowgirls were: Emily Christensen 109; Nicole Waters 111; Karina Torres 112; Delia Swanson 109; Sawyer Morrical 115 and Tessa Warnke 117.

“Within those scores were some nine-hole scores that were their best scores of the year,” stated head coach Dennis March.

Cowgirl track & field competes at W. City, Belmond

Last Thursday at Webster City, the Cowgirls competed at the Lady Lynx Invite. Iowa Falls-Alden took the team title in a close finish as the top three teams were separated by only seven points. The Cadets finished with 119 points, followed by the Cowgirls with 115 and Algona with 112. The rest were: Webster City 96, St. Edmond 70, Perry 34, Eagle Grove 25 and Clear Lake 15 points.

Highlights were-

The JV team took fourth and just six points out of third place.

Cowboy golfers continue strong early play

In a tri-meet last Friday at Clarmond, the Cowboys took a win over both Iowa Falls-Alden and Webster City. The home team finished with a 163 total, followed by the Cadets at 174 and the Lynx at 175. Jacob Moore shot a 38 for the low round, followed in counters by Tyson Berning at 39, Eric Fjetland at 40 and Cale Kirstein at 46. Other varsity rounds were played by Garrett Seaba and Carson Harle (both at 51), Colin Kirstein (52) and Jackson Beisel (65).
