Barbara E. Howieson, age 88 of Forest City, died on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the United Methodist Church, 305 S. Clark St. in Forest City, with Pastor Les Green officiating.

Visitation for Barb will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Schott Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St. in Forest City and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Roger Burras, 91, of Ames, and formerly of Clarion and Boone, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Private funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, at Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion with Rev. Steve Larson officiating. Burial with full military rights was in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Phyllis M. Berkenes

Phyllis M. Berkenes, age 100, of Clarion, Iowa, died August 22, 2023 at Wellspring Living, Waterloo, Iowa. She was surrounded by family and so much love.

Phyllis was born on the Fraser family farm on the corner of Holmes and Hwy 3 to Morris and Edith (Wampler) Fraser. Her elementary education started in the Holmes 2 room school house, she then graduated from Clarion High School in 1941.

Judith G. Chapman, 79, of Clarion passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion surrounded by her loved ones after a short battle with cancer and other ailments.

Judy was born in Albert Lea, MN on August 12, 1944 to Kenneth and Naomi Freeman. She was the 7^th of 9 children. She graduated from Eagle Grove Community High School in 1962. She later met the love of her life, Ron Chapman and were married June 16, 1972. Together they raised two children, Kendra and Chad.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jean Zigrang will be held at 10:30 AM, on Monday, September 4, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 204 South Jackson Avenue, in Eagle Grove with Father Jerry Blake and Deacon Dr. Michael Whitters officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Clarion First Methodist Church, 201 3^rd Avenue North East in Clarion. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.

Brian L. Bangs, 68, of Dows, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023 at his home after a courageous two year battle with cancer.

Memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Ewing Funeral Home, 114 East Ellsworth in Dows.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cancer Research Institute and St. Croix Hospice.

Brian Lee Bangs, was born on May 9, 1955 in Clarion, IA. Brian grew up and attended school in Alden, graduating in 1973.

Johnie Max Creamer of Rainier, WA, died Sunday, July 9, 2023, in Olympia WA. He was born December 14, 1939, to John Daniel Creamer and Mary Elizabeth Harmon Creamer in Paris, Texas. He graduated from Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas in 1957 and joined the Army in July of 1958 after attending Kilgore Junior College for one semester. He spent a year in Ascom City, Korea before being sent to Ft.

Funeral services for Leon Betts will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 21, 2023 at the Clarion Church of Christ, 420 North Main Street in Clarion with Pastor Warren Curry officiating.

Visitation for Leon will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Per Leon’s wishes everyone is asked to dress casual and in jeans please.
