C-G-D informs parents of first COVID case in district
Late last week, parents in the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows school district received word that a student at the high school has tested positive for COVID-19. This was the first case of the virus reported in the district. The district’s message also stipulated, “Please understand, as we must protect the privacy of all CGD students and staff, we cannot share further details about this individual. We will remain in contact with the individual to provide our support and ensure they are not contagious before returning to school.”
The district noted that they performed contact tracing and close contacts of the infected student were notified. “Our school nurse and staff are working with the Wright County Public Health Department to identify close contacts and mitigation strategies,” the message added.
School will be continuing in-person in the district with each school continuing to monitor students for symptoms and perform temperature checks. Superintendent Joe Nelson stated, “Our greatest priority is the safety of our students, staff and community. Please continue to take necessary precautions to protect yourself and those around you.”
