When I was 8-12 years of age, one of my farm duties for my dad and uncle was straightening used nails. I asked my uncle and dad why they like to reuse old nails. My uncle said, "They don't cost anything." My dad said, "A rusty nail will hold a board tighter." That sounded pretty good to me. But, I've discovered, if a nail bends once, it will bend easier when reused. Both of these men often had banged up fingers.
