Wright County stays red, Helgevold and Rasmussen retain supervisor seats

Wright County voters went Republican in all races. In the hotly contested county supervisor races, both Republican incumbents, Rick Rasmussen (Dist. 1) and Karl Helgevold (Dist. 3) defeated their challengers. Rasmussen came out on top of Jason Wessels 3,317 votes to 2,719. Helgevold defeated Mike Boyd with 3,291 votes to 2,580.

 In other races, the county strongly leaned towards President Donald Trump with 4,125 votes over Joe Biden’s 1,995 votes. Joni Ernst took the majority of the votes for U.S. Senate with 3,880 votes over Theresa Greenfield’s 2,062. In the race for District 4 Representative, Republican Randy Feenstra took the county over Democrat J.D. Scholten 3,854 to 2,063 votes. For State Rep, Republican Terry Baxter easily won in the county over Glenn Kiss.

In other ballot issues, all judges were voted to be retained. In the ballot question asking whether Iowa should hold a constitutional convention, the county overwhelmingly voted no.
