Wright County Public Health asks residents to get vaccinated
Some people are hesitant to get the COVID-19 vaccination because it hasn't yet received full FDA approval. However, make no mistake, the FDA still considers these vaccines safe and effective, and they have already been through rigorous clinical trials to reach this point. FDA has approved Emergency Authorization Use so that we can use every tool available to outmaneuver COVID-19 infections.
Getting vaccinated prevents severe illness, hospitalizations, and death. Unvaccinated people should get vaccinated and continue masking until they are fully vaccinated. With the Delta variant, this is more urgent than ever.
Vaccines in the US are highly effective, including against the Delta variant
- The COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the United States are highly effective at preventing severe disease and death, including against the Delta variant. But they are not 100% effective and some fully vaccinated people will become infected (called a breakthrough infection) and experience illness. For such people, the vaccine still provides them strong protection against serious illness and death.
- COVID-19 vaccine is a tool we can use now to outmaneuver COVID-19 infections and its variants.
- Given what we know about Delta variant, vaccine effectiveness, and current vaccine coverage, layered prevention strategies, such as wearing mask, are needed to reduce the transmission of this variant.
