Vaccine clinics scheduled for 12-18 year-olds in Wright County

Wright County Public Health is announcing their clinics for adolescents and young adults ages 12-18. Public Health has been allocated the Pfizer vaccine to distribute to this age group in Wright County. We want to stress that Pfizer in Wright County is only for those ages between 12-18 and we still have both the Johnson and Johnson vaccine as well as Moderna for anyone else ages 18 and older who have not been vaccinated yet.

The clinic dates for 12-18 year olds to get the Pfizer vaccine are as follows; May 20th, 24th, & 25th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Wright County Public Health Building (address listed above). As well as June 1st and 3rd from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at this same location. If you would like an appointment, please call Public Health at (515) 532-3461 to get scheduled. Please also keep an eye out for announcements on future clinics.

Eagle Grove Schools will be having a clinic for students, this will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on May 21st. Belmond Schools will also be having a clinic located at their high school for students. Their clinic will be held on May 27th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Clarion students interested in getting this vaccine can call and make an appointment with Wright County Public Health and attend one of the clinics listed above located at the Wright County Public Health building in Clarion, IA.

It is also stressed that the Pfizer vaccination is a TWO-time dose and will require a boost shot 21 days after receiving your first vaccination. After receiving the first dose there will be instructions given on when the second dose is needed.

If these times do not work for your schedule, you can also call your provider at Iowa Specialty Hospitals and clinics as they have been allocated doses of the Pfizer vaccine from Wright County Public Health. Along with Iowa Specialty Hospitals and clinics, you can also contact your local pharmacies (Thrifty White in Clarion and Eagle Grove Pharmacy in Eagle Grove) to get an appointment scheduled.

Sandy McGrath Wright County Public Health Administrator wants to stress that these vaccines are safe and that all of these have gone through the same safety tests and met the same standards as any other vaccine produced through the years. She also said, “If we use all the tools we have, we stand the best chance of getting our families, communities, schools, and workplaces “back to normal” sooner.”

All questions can be answered by calling Wright County Public Health by calling the number above. (515) 532-3461.
