Corey W. Speirs

Corey W. Speirs, 52, of Clarion, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after a courageous battle of diabetes.  

Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 5:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.

He was born in Clarion, Iowa on October 9, 1971. He attended school in Clarion and was active in sports - football, basketball, and baseball and graduated in 1990. Iowa State was his next home with a business management degree.

He held various agriculture positions and enjoyed traveling for his jobs to Europe, South America, Mexico, Hawaii, and Romania. While living in Romania for almost 3 years, where he managed building a corn plant for Monsanto, he met his future wife, Constantina, and brought her back to Iowa. Regretfully, they later divorced.

To this day, Corey treasured his friends and kept in touch with them, because it seems that Corey knew everyone or knew people who knew his friends.

Old times and escapades were always reminisced. His many hobbies were: fishing, ISU games, "tomato wars", many Halloween pranks, earning his private pilot’s license. Riding motorcycles with his family on vacations and camping were famous adventures for him Often he would be up at 5:00 AM and making breakfast for the family while they were camping.

He is survived by his parents, William and Donna (Halupnik) Speirs; his brother Kevin Speirs; grandmother Violet Speirs of Traer; and various aunts, uncles, and cousins.
