Norman Puffett

Norman Puffett, 81, of Middletown, DE passed away on Oct. 29, 2023.

He was born in California and spent his formative years on a farm in Iowa. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1960. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master of Arts degrees from Adams State College and his Master’s and Doctorate in Education from Columbia University.

Norman spent many years as a College Dean at several institutions including Mercy College, Western Connecticut, and NYU. He proudly served in the US Air Force.

Norman’s intellect and thirst for knowledge showed in his pursuit of his various interests. When he started bowling, he bought books, took lessons, and watched bowling tutorials on TV.

His recent love of fly tying led him to buy hundreds of books and fly-tying equipment. He joined a fly-tying club and took lessons. He made many friends while pursuing his interests.

He is survived by his wife Debra Puffett, his daughter Nora Puffett, brother Don Puffett, stepson Richard Bereck (Leslie), stepdaughter Stacy Bereck Chernosky (Ed), and grandchildren Brynn and Rory Chernosky.

A memorial for Norman will be held at a later date.
