Norsemen take 34-6 win over Cowboys football team

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows opened their football season on the road at Story City, and experienced a tough night as the home team from Roland-Story put up a 39-6 win over the Cowboys. The visitors avoided the shutout thanks to Mateo Martinez grabbing a 17-yard touchdown pass from Shane Conlon.

Conlon finished at four of 13 for 32 total yards with an interception. His final QB rating was 61.4 percent. Gaytan and Kain Nelson both completed one pass, Gaytan for eight yards and Nelson six yards of gain. Martinez caught four balls for 26 total yards, with Rafael Jimenez at one catch for 12 yards and Trenton Jergenson one catch for eight yards.

Christian Gaytan was the leading rusher with 59 total yards on nine totes of the pigskin (6.6 yard average). Jergenson added 24 yards on 13 attempts, Martinez 38 yards on 10 carries, Jimenez 20 yards on six totes and Cole Lindaman 16 yards on five carries.
