Mr. G’s Spring Style Show

On April 8, 130 women attended Mr. G’s annual Spring Style Show at Water’s Edge, where they enjoyed dinner while local models showed off the new – often bright pastel-colored – spring trends.

“I like it because the models look terrific,” said one attendee. “I like to support our local economy,” said another. When asked what they enjoyed about the show, others said: “I enjoy a good meal.” “I got talked into it.” “I like the girls that come out all dressed in the latest spring attire.” “I’m sure it will be everything not in my closet.”

“It’s just very, very bright – everything’s bright and colorful!” enthused Mr. G himself, Larry Guth, about the current trends.

“And now I look like a rainbow,” said one of the models a bit more dryly, returning to the Goldfield ladies’ table with her third outfit of the evening.

Mr. G’s has been in business 33 years in Clarion, and the style show has been running for the last decade. Others described the show and the shop as offering “a nice variety” that’s “a little out of the ordinary.”  “We’re very fortunate to have in him in the town of Clarion,” was a representative sentiment of Guth and his store. “He’s a good one to remember what you like.” ”And they’re always willing to help you out with clothing and accessories.” “He does have some colorful purses.”

Jackie Thompson, who maintains residences at Lake Cornelia and in Virginia, noted that the clothes she buys in Clarion even get noticed on the East Coast. “Every time I buy something at Mr. G’s, when I’m in D.C., I get complements,” she said. “Someone will come out of the blue, tap me on the shoulder, and say, ‘I really like your jacket.”
