Lap of the Lake draws over 100 dogs and walkers

Approximately seventy people and forty dogs attended the Humane Society of Wright County’s annual “Lap the Lake” event held at Lake Cornelia this past Saturday. It was a beautiful sunny day for a brisk autumn walk as the humans and dogs started their trek around the lake.  Participants claimed it was perfect weather for an invigorating walk.

Several individuals who signed up ahead of time volunteered to walk the adoptable dogs brought over from the humane society.  After the walk, participants were treated to doughnuts, cookies, bottled water, and hot chocolate.  (Casey’s General Store had provided the doughnuts and cookies. Fareway had provided the bottled water and hot chocolate mix.) The dogs were treated to a variety of doggie snacks and water.

Immediately after the walk a drawing for the door prize (an electronic device to keep track of a dog’s location and steps) was awarded to Patty LaRue.

Following the door prize give away, ten dog awards (along with prizes for the dogs) were presented as follows:  Smallest Dog- Lilly (a Yorkie owned by Michelle Murphy)
