Joanne A. Duncalf
Joanne A. Duncalf, 77, of Clarion passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue Northeast in Clarion. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Clarion.
Rosary will begin at 1:30 PM with visitation following at the church on Thursday.
Joanne Adel (Bockenstedt) Duncalf, the daughter of Fred and Adel (Krogman) Bockenstedt, was born on October 24, 1946 in Dyserville, Iowa. She attended school in Strawberry Point, Iowa and graduated with the class of 1964.
After high school, Joanne continued her education at Mercy Hospital School of Radiological Technology in Cedar Rapids. This began a wonderful and fulfilling career. She taught at Iowa Central for a few years before becoming a travel x-ray technician which she thoroughly enjoyed until retiring in 2015.
She was united in marriage to David Duncalf on September 28, 1968. To this union three children were born: Leann, Jacob and Benjamin. The couple later divorced.
Joanne raised her children in Clarion and enjoyed being a stay at home mom while dabbling in entrepreneurship, owning her own photography and specialty advertising business.
In her free time, Joanne loved to travel making special religious trips to Italy and Israel. She loved anything to do with her grandchildren and always had candy at the ready for them.
She was a faithful member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion, Clarion Ladies VFW Auxiliary and a proud member of the Wright County Republicans.
She will be missed for her caring heart, generosity and fearless ways.
Joanne is survived by her children Leann (Chuck Jr.) Gatewood of Eagle Grove and children Marcus (Kiersten) Gatewood and Alexis (Reed Burres) Gatewood; son Jacob (Vicky Russell) Duncalf of Granger and children Zachary, Cael and Walker Duncalf; Benjamin (Marcy) Duncalf of Goldfield and children Jordyce and Daven Duncalf; great-child Castiel Gatewood; sister Mary Jean Hood along with extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Donald Bockenstedt.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Catholic Church or to the Wright County Fair for a memorial bench for the 4-H and FFA supporters to rest and enjoy the fair.
