James Terry

James Terry, 70, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial for James Terry will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 13, 2021 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue North East in Clarion, with Reverend Jerry Blake officiating. Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Divine Mercy Chaplet will begin at 3:30 PM with scriptural wake beginning at 4:00 PM.

James Milton was born on December 7, 2021 at Trinity Hospital in Fort Dodge to John and Betty (Dishman) Terry. He attended high school at Eagle Grove and graduated with the class of 1970. After high school, he attended DMACC and received a degree as a printing pressman.

Jim was united in marriage to Connie Chapman on June 19, 1993. To this union they had three children, Amanda, Amy, and Terry.

Jim worked as a pressman for PSI, Allen Printing, and opened his own business JT’s Printery. Later in life Jim decided to try something different. He obtained his CDL and enjoyed over the road trucking before he started working for Monson. He loved being part of the Monson family.

Jim was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church and was proud to be a fourth degree Knight. He was also a part of the Friday morning prayer group for over 20 years.

Jim enjoyed being outdoors gardening, mowing, and kayaking, and taking motorcycle rides with his brothers. In Jim’s free time he loved watching his grandkids participate in sporting events. He was very proud of them. Jim was an avid Cyclone fan! He loved all music and even taught himself to play the guitar. Jim was very social and made friends with everyone. One of the things he looked forward to was coffee with Al and Gary.

Jim is survived by his wife Connie of 28 years; children Amanda (Tim) Carpenter, Amy (Cory) Humphrey, and Terry (Jamie) Gump; grandchildren Kolton, Triston, Taylor (McKara), Mason, Tanner, Jozey, Jaxon, Jayden, and Adalynn; soon to be great-granddaughter Della Ann; brothers Johnnie (Karen) Terry, and Mike (Irma) Terry; sister Linda (Jerry) Askvig; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Terry, brothers Beaver and Craig, his favorite dog Lucy, and numerous friends.
