ISH Drs. McLoughlin '”land” in Clarion from their medical “trek”

Clarion area residents are the welcome recipients with the arrival of Drs. Andrea and Michael McLoughlin. Working out of Iowa Specialty Hospital’s Clarion location, the twosome see patients in the clinic and in the hospital. They began here in November 2017.
Andrea is a 2005 Clarion-Goldfield High School graduate and daughter of Dr. Jon & Becky Ahrendsen. She graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake with a bachelor’s of science in biology. From there, her journey took her to medical school at the University of Iowa where she met Michael.
Michael is a 2002 graduate from Fort Dodge St. Edmond's. While attending school there he lived near Badger, Iowa in the home his parents still own. He then attended Central College and graduated with a major in psychology. Next up, he went to the University of Wisconsin and obtained a master's degree in exercise psychology before moving on to University of Iowa for medical school. When Andrea and Michael graduated from University of Iowa, they received medical degrees, but still needed to specialize their training through a residency. Andrea completed her residency training in family medicine and practices full spectrum family care including newborns, obstetrics, and hospice care. Michael completed his residency in internal medicine and his in-depth adult training helps him to care for the complicated medical problems adults can have.
