Gayle Sisson

Gayle O. Sisson, 92, formerly of Goldfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial visitation for Gayle Sisson will be held from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.

Gayle was born on July 2, 1929 in Castana, Iowa to Doyle and Gladys Sisson. He graduated from Castana High School in 1948.

Gayle married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Troth, at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa on June 25, 1948. They were married 71 wonderful years.

Gayle worked on the farm for years and drove the school bus in Castana. He later became a custodial engineer and moved his family to Goldfield, Iowa in 1973. He made friends easily and if you ever needed him while he was working all you had to do was listen for his whistle.

Gayle semi-retired in 1991 and he then drove bus when needed. He enjoyed his life to the fullest, raised 10 children and loved country music.

Gayle is survived by his children Stephen (Janet) Sisson, Fairview, Tennessee; Anita (David) Janssen, Gilmore City; Iowa, Patty (Sam) Brauer, Bethany, Missouri; Beverly (Mike) Reiter, Sheldon, Iowa; Alta (Steve) Linn, Superior, Iowa; Cindy (Duane) Askvig, Clarion, Iowa; Kenny (Darcy) Sisson, Eagle Grove, Iowa; Lori (Paul) Liebbe, Clarion, Iowa; Jim (Carissa) Sisson, Goldfield, Iowa; sister Jannette Burns, South Sioux City, Nebraska; along with their family and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Audrey, parents, sisters Audrey Meier and Cleta Sisson, brother Kenneth Sisson, daughter Teresa Soesbe, granddaughter Angela Linn Holland, grandsons Marcus Reiter and Aaron Sisson, and four great grandchildren.
