Donna Evans

Donna Mae Evans, 93, went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2024 after being ill for many years. 

Funeral services for Donna Evans will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.   

Donna was born May 19, 1930 to Joyce and Alma Melhus. She grew up on a farm near Dows, lowa and she attended a one room school near Dows for elementary and middle school and went to and graduated from high school in Clarion, lowa.

She and her family attended the First Lutheran Church in Clarion, lowa where she was baptized, confirmed and was married to Richard Evans there in April, 1950.

She attended Waldorf College in Forest City, lowa where she studied book keeping.

Donna was married to Richard Trent Evans in April, 1950. Her husband was a dentist and had a practice in Britt, lowa for many years. They attended and were members of the Lutheran Church in Britt, lowa.

She was very involved in her church and community serving as Sunday School teacher, Den mother for the cub scouts, she worked in her husband's dental office and supporting her husband and family in many different roles. 

They often had family reunions at their farm in Dows, lowa along with her sister Janet and her husband Fritz. All of her children and many of her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews have fond memories of they spent there riding horses, riding mo-peds, motorcycles, and golf carts and going on canoe trips and eating a lot of wonderful fresh lowa sweet corn and the delicious food that Donna would make for her family and visitors.

They had 3 sons and 3 daughters in law: Thomas Evans (Donna), Timothy Evans (Linda) and Jim Evans (Valerie) as well as 7 beloved grandchildren, John Evans, Ty Evans, Christopher Evans, Jerra Britzman, Michael Evans, Zachery Evans and Jenna Evans and 5 beautiful great grandchildren, Logan, Ethan, Asher, Beckett and Callan.

Donna was one of four children which incudes, her sister Janet and two brothers Larry and Russell Melhus.

Donna and her husband Dick loved to travel the country in their airstream and were able to see most of the country and also spent much of their free time in Fort Lauderdale with their 3 sons and their families until they moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida after Dick retired. Donna and Dick loved to have visitors and always extended their warm hospitality to friends and family who came to see them.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joyce and Alma Melhus, her brothers Russel and Larry Melhus and her husband Richard Evans.

She loved her family very much and spent as much time with them as she could. She always loved animals and had pets all of her life up to the time she had to enter a nursing home. She was very patriotic and loved her country.

Donna left behind a beautiful legacy and is very much loved by her family and will be sorely missed by her sons and their children and grandchildren, her sister Janet and her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews until we see her again one day.
