Dane and Shelby Askelsen return to their Wright County roots to live and work

The Askelsens are two of a number of younger people who are choosing to live in Wright County, after studying and working in larger communities.Dane is a seed representative for Channel Seeds and farms with his brother, Troy. Shelby is a dental hygienist for Dr. Kelch.

Both Dan and Shelby (Dougherty) Askelsen were born and raised in Wright County. Dane, a 2008 Clarion-Goldfield graduate, and Shelby, a 2009 Belmond-Klemme graduate, left the area to study and work. What brought them back?  Family, farming, and employment opportunities. The couple currently resides on an acreage southeast of Clarion
Dane studied at Iowa State University (ISU) earning a degree in architecture. Shelby studied at Kirkwood for two years, playing softball for the college; then completed her ISU studies with a degree in Liberal Science. She then furthered her education becoming a certified dental hygienist.
