Cowgirls finish December schedule with win over Lynx

In a home game last Tuesday, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls varsity basketball team finished the 2018 portion of their schedule with a much-needed 45-42 victory over Webster City. The Cowgirls held a 17-7 halftime lead, and even though they were outscored 35 points to 28 by the Lynx over the entire second half they still had enough to hang on at the end.

“The girls did a great job of taking care of McKinney (16.0 ppg avg.), and making sure she was not able to get started on offense,” stated head coach Kevin Kakacek. “We had to make sure we didn’t let her beat us and that we rotate and adjust our defense. Offensively, we moved the ball well and got it inside to get some good scoring.”
