Cowgirls continue to struggle for another win

Last Monday June 11, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball team dropped a 9-0 home game to Humboldt. Vanessa Kolb, Courtney Harle, Emma Schluttenhofer, Morgan Middleton and Kendall Lienemann all had a base hit each. Alaina Friesleben took the loss, pitching 4 2/3 inning and giving up four earned runs on five hits. She walked six and struck out three. Brooke Askelsen pitched the other 2 1/3, allowing no earned runs on three hits with two walks and one strikeout.

While they did generate a bit more offense the next night at Rockford, the end result was the same in a 13-6 loss to the Warriors. In the first, Harle reached on a fielders choice and stole her way to third before scoring on an error. She reached again in the third on an error, with Hansch bringing her home. In the sixth, consecutive base hits by Kolb and Harle resulted three batters later by a Schluttenhofer single up the middle bringing them both in. In the seventh, Askelsen and Lienemann took consecutive walks with Jondle bringing Askelsen in and Harle knocking in Lienemann.
