Cowboy track & field go to Humboldt for NCC Meet

Humboldt used their home surroundings to its full advantage to take yet another North Central Conference track & field team title last Thursday. The Wildcats gathered up 177 points, easily outdistancing them from second place Webster City with 117 points. The rest finished like this: Algona 113, Clear Lake 103, Iowa Falls-Alden 70, Hampton-Dumont-CAL 67, St. Edmond 56 and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 35.

Highlights include third place finishes for Rapp (discus) and Watne (shot), along with a fifth place for the sprint medley relay. The foursome of Clinton Miller, Mateo Martinez, Kamren Jergenson and Isaac Davis on anchor toured the track in 1:39.89 at the finish line.

Coach comments:

“I was pleased with both Ryan and Nate’s finish at the conference meet in field events,” stated head coach Craig Warnke. “The sprint med team ran a new personal record (PR) and set a new school record. The shuttle relay and 4x1 relay also both ran to a PR for the season. Isaiah and Isaac also ran season bests in the 800 and 400, respectively. As usual, the NCC had very excellent times and distances for the evening and we were able to use the quality competition to set us up for some state-hopeful finishes this week."
