Clarion Rotary looking to expand their circle with new members.

The Clarion Rotary club calls themselves “small but mighty.” Their membership numbers might seem few, but as they describe all the activities and projects they engage in on a local, national, and international level, anyone would be impressed by their work. While the small club does work together to accomplish great things, they are also eager to expand and open their doors to new members.

The Rotarians have a rich history in Clarion. Club records show active membership as far back as the 1920s. Long time Clarion Rotarian Sherri O’Brien explains that Rotary is ultimately a service group. Rotary.org adds that the organization’s mission is “to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.”

Despite being a relatively small group, the Rotarians stay very busy. Member Rachel Johnson said, “Most people in Clarion probably don’t realize how active we are in the community,” yet most are no doubt familiar with many of their projects. They assist with the year-round Clarion backpack program, they sponsor a scholarship, and they are responsible for the Secret Santa charity giveaway that helps needy folks throughout Wright County, in addition to supporting several other local programs. Their service is also international in scope. They sponsor a child from Mexico and provide backpacks to mothers in Nicaragua. The club also has sponsored inbound and outbound exchange students.
