Additional cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Wright County

“While Wright County Health Department and Iowa Specialty Hospitals continue to be aggressive in testing and identifying vulnerabilities to slow any spread of COVID-19 we are seeing an increase in the number of positives with an additional 14 as of May 18th.” said Mickey Cooper, Wright County Public Health Board Chair. Fortunately, many are asymptomatic, however, this shows that COVID-19 is in our community and is a danger to high risk individuals.  Sandy McGrath, RN, Environmental Health and Epidemiology stated that, “We cannot emphasize enough to individuals and businesses how serious it is to practice the necessary precautions including wearing face covering, social distancing and limiting gatherings of 10 people or less.”

Symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, fever, and shortness of breath. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you should call your health care provider before going into the office. The provider may have special instructions for you and will determine if you should be tested.

“I’m proud of the work that Iowa Specialty Hospitals and Wright County Public Health has done throughout the last few months regarding preparations and precautions for COVID-19,” concluded Dr. McLoughlin of Iowa Specialty Hospitals.  “We’re asking the public to continue to do their part.”

  1. Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds.
  2. Practice social distancing keeping a 6-foot distance between yourself and others.
  3. Wear a face covering anywhere you are interacting with others outside of your household.
  4. Stay home as much as possible.

“While some of our business begin to reopen it is up to all of us to continue to follow prevention guidelines to make sure this first step is successful and safe for all of our citizens” said Karl Helgevold, Wright County Board of Supervisors
