Jack McClelland Jr.

Jack W McClelland Jr. passed away on October 25, 2021 after a long battle with COPD. Jack was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa on February 21, 1938 to Jack W McClelland Sr and Mildred (Agard) McClelland. He lived in Clarion, Iowa where he excelled in high school sports and found his love of football. He went on to graduate from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where he continued playing football and then earned his Masters Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Teaching and coaching, first in Iowa and then in Tennessee kept him close to his love of athletics. After returning to Iowa in the late 1970's, he worked in insurance sales for the remainder of his career.

Jack met his wife Janice (Larson) while at Wartburg and they were married on August 11, 1962. He is survived by his wife and daughters, Rachel (Joel) Ehrendreich, Jackie (Scott) Alter, and two grandsons, Cooper (Nada) Ehrendreich and Calvin Ehrendreich. He also leaves behind four siblings, his brother Larry (Francine) McClelland, and sisters Mary Ellen Robinson, Vicki (Jim) Ahrens and Trudy (Larry) Bloxham.

He and Janice retired to the Villages, Florida in 2003. Beside golfing and fishing as much as possible, Jack enjoyed working part time as a recreation assistant and starter on the many golf courses- all the while keeping close watch on his Iowa Hawkeyes.

A celebration of his life visitation will be held at the Clarion Public Library on April 30 from 2pm-5pm.
