Dolores Bowman

Dolores Patricia Bowman, 94, of Clarion, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services for Dolores Bowman will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Clarion United Methodist Church, 201 3rd Avenue North East, in Clarion with Pastor Lewis Flanigan officiating.

Visitation for Dolores Bowman will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Wednesday.

Dolores was the daughter of Cecil H. Paine and Blanche L. (Hulse) Paine.  She was born May 19 1928 on her grandfather’s farm at Kanawha, Iowa.  Her parents moved to Clarion, Iowa when Dolores was a baby.  She grew up and attended Clarion schools.

Dolores was united in marriage to William R. Roosa at the Clarion Church of Christ with Rev. Bruce B. Matthews giving the service.  Dolores and Bill lived in Iowa and Illinois until settling in Clarion when their children began to arrive.  Sons Steven R., Timothy M., Patrick K., Russell W. and daughter Jane F. were born to Bill and Dolores.  Bill passed away after 43 years of marriage in February of 1989.

Dolores and Donald E. Bowman were married on June 14, 1993, in the United Methodist Church in Clarion by Rev. Charles B. Kellogg.  Lots of their combined families and Church family and friends were in attendance.  Don and Dolores enjoyed a wonderful life traveling, golfing with friends and, their favorite, that Don called “Bowman Golf.” Their winters were spent in Florida.

Dolores worked at Meredith Corporation in Clarion from age 50-62, when she retired.  It was a great place to work.  Everyone was like a big family.  All were wonderful in their own way.

Dolores was a member of the Clarion United Methodist Church.  She belonged to the Church Circle and the Utili Dulci Sunday School class.  The Church and Church Family have always been very important to her.

Dolores loved pictures of family and friends and loved lots of flowers.  She enjoyed all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her families were so very special to her and she loved them dearly.

Dolores is survived by her children, Steven (Cindy), Patrick, Russ (Rita), and Jane (Mark) Bell; daughter-in-law, Selvie (Tim); step-children Carol Townsend, Dennis (Carolyn) Bowman, and Christie (Denny) Banken; along with many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husbands, William Roosa and Donald Bowman; her parents, Cecil and Blanche Paine; son Timothy; stepson Hugh Townsend; brothers John, Don, Richard, Thomas and Larry, and sisters Phyllis Coon, Beverly Berneman and Karen Trebil.
