Caroline M. (Harris) Ammerman, 85, of Clarion, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond.

Memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Caroline May, daughter of Henry J. and Clara (Shaw) Ammerman, was born on April 5, 1938 in Clarion. Caroline grew up in Clarion and graduated from Clarion High School in 1957.

On December 21, 1957, Caroline was united in marriage to Kenneth Ammerman in Clarion. They made their home in Clarion where they raised their three children Colleen, Keith, and Roger. Over the years, Caroline worked at local restaurants in Clarion. She worked at E.D.S for over 25 years and retired in 2002.

Caroline loved being in the kitchen. Her pies were everyone’s favorite and were always the first ones to be gone at sales. She enjoyed made candies at Christmas time and canning vegetables in the summer.

Caroline was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Clarion.

Caroline is survived by her children Colleen (Dale) Hiemstra of Boone, Keith Ammerman of Clarion, and Roger (Susan) Ammerman of rural Goodell; grandchildren Angela (Heath) Briggs, Andrea (Adam) Clemons, Ashley (Nick) Sampson, Roxanne Ammerman, and Michelle Ammerman; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Jane Morris; brother Ray Harris; sister-in-law Glenda Harris; and special companion Frank Rodriguez.

She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Ammerman; great-granddaughter Briar Butz; parents Henry and Clara Harris; and brother Dean Harris.
