U.S. Senator Joni Ernst visits Goldfield

Following the medal presentation, United States Republican Senator Joni Ernst addressed the 35-plus people gathered in the boardroom of the Gold Eagle Co-op on current happenings in Washington and with our nation. She fielded a few questions, as time allowed, then was given a ‘virtual tour’ of the Gold Eagle facilities by Brad Davis.

Sen. Ernst is from Red Oak, and prior to her election to the U.S. Senate served in the Iowa Senate from 2011-14. She began her political career as the Montgomery County Auditor starting in 2004, and served two terms in that position. She is also a lieutenant colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard. Ernst serves on four committees in Washington: Armed Services, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Small Business/Entrepreneurship and Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry. She chairs the subcommittee on Jobs, Rural Economic Growth and Energy Innovation.
