Two C-G-D high schoolers want your old mascara wands; Collecting for a wildlife rescue project

            Many of us women wear makeup. And if you are like me, most of us women have plenty of old makeup laying around that we no longer use. We eventually clean out our supply and throw it away. However, before you throw out anything in the next few weeks, grab your old mascaras and donate them to a good cause.

            Two Clarion-Goldfield-Dows high school girls are collecting the mascara wands for a worthy project. Junior Jennifer Ramirez and senior Gabby Hackley explain that they started a mascara drive recently to help benefit the efforts of the Wands for Wildlife organization.  The group’s website explains how the mascara wands are used: “Old mascara wands are used to remove fly eggs and larva from the fur of wild animals. They work great because the bristles are close together.” The girls will eventually send the donations to the group in North Carolina for them to distribute to different animal refuges and rescue groups.
