Thomas Schroder

Thomas L. Schroder, 66, of Clarion passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at his home in Clarion.

Visitation for Thomas Schroder will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.

Graveside services will follow at 11:30 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Dows with Joey Keller officiating.

Those in attendance will be asked to follow social distancing guidelines and encouraged to wear a face covering.

Thomas Larry, son of Jack E. and Doris (Boggs) Schroder, was born on February 22, 1954 in Stuttgart, Germany. Tom grew up on a farm outside of Dows and went to school in Dows before moving to Rowan.

In 1972, Tom enlisted in the Army. Tom did basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and infantry training in Fort Polk, Louisiana. He was then stationed in Gelnhausen, Germany. In 1975, Tom was honorably discharged and moved back to Clarion.

Tom was united in marriage to Judith Anderson on February 19, 1977 in Bethany, Missouri. Tom re-enlisted in the Army in 1977 and went to military police school in Fort McClellan, Alabama. Tom and his family moved to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Tom worked as a Military Police Game Warden. In 1980, Tom was stationed in 503rd Military Police Company in Frankfurt, Germany and worked in the Gelnhausen area. Tom ended his tour of service. He moved back to the Galt area and served in the National Guard in the 133rd Infantry in Iowa Falls and Hampton. Tom worked at Triggs in Belmond and later at Hagie Manufacturing in Clarion.

Tom enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens, winemaking and spending time at the gun club. Most of all, Tom loved being with his grandchildren and family.

Tom is survived by his wife Judith of Clarion; children Trish (Duane) Wempen of Stratford, Aaron (Talena) Johnson of Killeen, Texas, and Shawn (Shaylee) Schroder of Clarion; grandchildren Timothy (Kelsey), Nathan, Megan, Daniel, Ian, and Luke; great-grandchildren Aubree, Carson, Bentley and Delaney; and many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sister Shelley; and brother Doug.
