Supervisors hear funding request from Wright Co Charitable Foundation

The Wright County Board of Supervisors met for a regular meeting on Monday morning after holding their special organizational meeting last week on Thursday.

Two representatives from the Wright County Charitable Foundation made a presentation to the board. Foundation President Lennea Groom and Duane Asbe updated the board on the status of the group. To date, they have granted over $1.25 million in funds throughout the county. After recently going through a strategic planning process, the foundation is considering some changes, including possibly going to just one granting period per year instead of the current two. Groom commented that this may allow them to fund more projects more completely than they can now. The foundation ultimately asked the supervisors to continue their current level of support at $9,000 as they consider next year’s budget.

The board set a bid letting for work to be done on tile in DD #117, which is southwest of Belmond in Grant Township. Tile in the area has been clogged by tree roots. Engineers have recommended cleaning up the tile by cutting the roots and lining the tile. The bid letting for a contractor will be February 10.
