Supervisors canvass last week’s election results

The Wright County Board of Supervisors were tasked with the canvassing of votes for last week’s city and school elections. The supers looked over the vote tally books and signed off on the votes. County Auditor Betty Ellis explained the process of tallying votes, including getting the results from the vote counting machines to uploading information to the secretary of state’s website. She also talked about calculating write-in votes. Woolstock for instance had a couple of write-in campaigns, though they didn’t total enough to beat the candidates on the ballot. Ellis will be sending the different school districts’ election results to the controlling counties so they can tally final results.

The board signed a resolution that would transition County Social Services (CSS) employees to be under the CSS umbrella as their employee of record rather than under the county. This will be effective as of January 1, 2020.  Ellis noted that will give the CSS employees more continuity rather than be under the authority of each individual county. They also approved the hire of Amber Barrett, Sarah Juhl, and Nancy Olson as I-Start Coordinators with CSS and also Olivia Ayers as the I-Start Clinical Director.  The county will be the employer of record for them for only two months due to the above-mentioned resolution that transitions them away from being county employees.
