Supervisors approve bid for infrastructure work at Park

Following approval of their bid this past Monday at the Board of Supervisors meeting, Reilly Construction Company, headquartered in Ossian, Iowa, will be doing the infrastructure work at the new Ag-Business Park south of the Prestage Foods plant.

At a special meeting last Friday, four bids were opened and then were tabulated and checked for accuracy by Eric Gjersvik of ISG. He was present at this meeting as well, and recommended the approval of the just over $1.77 million dollar bid. “It will be about a month before they can start,” said Gjersvik. “A portion of the project must be completed by November 1st.” Other bidders included C.J. Moyna & Sons, Crow River Construction and Diversified Infrastructure Services. In a related matter, Supervisor Dean Kluss will negotiate drainage easements with adjoining landowners of the Park for installation of the storm water pipe to the south.

Maintenance Director Andy Yackle presented the bids for the repair/replacement of the Courthouse roof and the roof at the Professional Building. He also obtained architect quotes as well. “By State law, if it is over $139,000 we must have an architect,” said Yackle. The money for this will come out of the 2019-20 budget, and after discussion he stated he was comfortable in going with Allers Associates for a fee of $20,000 per building and possibly $2-3,000 additional. He indicated that after a phone conversation with the firm that the additional money may not be necessary. The Board then approved going with them. According to Yackle, the construction part will now be rebid at a later date.
